Kangra – The Beauty of Himachal Pradesh

With elevations ranging from 500 to 5,000 meters, Kangra district is situated on the southern slopes of the Himalayas, encompassing the Himalayan ranges, Dhauladhar, and the foothills of Shivalik. Chamba, Lahaul & Spiti, Mandi, Hamirpur, Una, and Gurdaspur (Punjab) are its neighbors. It is named after the town of Kangra (Nagarkot) and was formerly a part of the ancient Trigarta Kingdom.

Formerly a part of composite Punjab until 1966, the present Kangra district was created on September 1st, 1972. It draws visitors for hiking, paragliding, photography, and other adventurous pursuits because of its temples, forts, picturesque valleys, lush vegetation, and traditional villages.
