Mohan Shakti National Heritage Park is a huge, modern historic site located in the Shivalik mountains near Solan. This park is on a hillside and was built to make sure younger generations can easily connect with their roots. 

• The Founder: It was founded by Brigadier Kapil Mohan, a Padman Shree Awardee and retired Indian Army officer. He was also the owner of the famous Mohan Meakin Limited. 

• The Opening: This beautiful park was officially opened to the public on December 1, 2002. It was opened by the then Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

• The Size: It has a huge size, as it covers 40 acres of hillside land. This makes it the largest heritage park in Himachal Pradesh.

What Is the Significance of Mohan Shakti Heritage Park

The detailed artwork and statues in this park were created by master artists from different states like Rajasthan, West Bengal, and Odisha. 

• This wonderful site in Solan was created to promote and preserve Indian culture. It has many statues of Vedic saints and wall art of scenes from epic stories like the Ramayana and Mahabharata.

How to Reach Mohan Shakti National Heritage Park

This beautiful park is about 7 km off the Kalka-Shimla Highway near Salogra. You can easily reach here by hiring a taxi or driving. The last few kilometers of the road to the park are very narrow and steep. So, if you don’t have experience driving such a road, you can ask for help from a local driver. 

1. By Car or Taxi

• From Solan: You can easily reach the park in just 20 to 30 minutes from the city or the bus stand. You can easily hire local taxis to drive down the Solan-Shilly road for about 15 km to Hart Village. 

• From Chandigarh (about 86 km, 2-hour drive): You need to drive on the main highway through Dharampur to Solan. Once you reach the city, you can ask locals for the location or hire a taxi.

• From Shimla (about 40 km, 1.5-hour drive): You have to drive down the main highway toward Solan, then turn onto Shilly Road. 

• From Delhi (about 315 km / 6 to 7 hours): You have to take the main highway (NH-44, then NH-5). You must leave early in the morning to reach Solan by lunch, and visit the park in the evening.

2. By TrainToy Train: The closest train stop is the Solan Railway Station. You can enjoy riding the famous toy train, and once you get off at the station, you can book a local taxi to cover the remaining journey.

3. By Plane: The nearest big airport to the park is in Chandigarh. From the airport, you can take a pre-paid taxi directly to the park. It is a good option for groups.

4. By Bus: You need to catch a bus traveling on the Kalka-Shimla NH-5 and then get off at the Salogra or Solan by-pass bus stop. From these two points, the park is around 7 to 10 km away, and you need a taxi to complete your journey. 

What Is the Best Time to Visit Mohan Shakti Heritage Park?

The best time to visit this wonderful place is from October to March. You should plan your arrival between 10:AM and 1:00 PM to join the daily prayers.
